“Weekend warrior” and regularly active physical activity patterns have been associated with reduced mortality risk in the general population. However, the association in patients with diabetes remains unclear. To examine this, the study analyzed data from 51,650 adults with self-reported diabetes to assess the relationships between different physical activity patterns, particularly weekend warrior and regularly active behavior, and all-cause, cardiovascular , and cancer mortality.
Over a median follow-up period of 9.5 years, the study found that all-cause mortality risk was significantly lower among insufficiently active (hazard ratios (HRs): 0.90), weekend warrior (HR: 0.79), and regularly active individuals (HR: 0.83) compared to inactive participants.
