Pregnancies through assisted reproductive technology (ART), especially when using multiple-embryo transfer, are associated with adverse perinatal outcomes compared to natural conception. To evaluate the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes in singletons born through ART using double-embryo transfer (DET) and single-embryo transfer (SET), Swedish researchers analyzed data of 1,115,863 singleton births from the National Quality Registry for Assisted Reproduction database. An increased risk of neonatal death was observed in singletons born using DET compared to SET.
