A recent nationwide survey has raised concerns about the long-term sustainability of India’s medical workforce, with more than 91 percent of physicians reporting that they would discourage their children from pursuing a career in medicine. The study, conducted over six months by the Debabrata Mitalee Auro Foundation, surveyed more than 1,200 doctors practicing across metropolitan areas and smaller cities. Overall, 91.4 percent of respondents said they would actively advise against entering the profession, reflecting growing dissatisfaction within the medical community.
Burnout emerged as a dominant concern, with many physicians reporting significant emotional and professional exhaustion over the past year.
