According to a new study, which examined over a million people showed that, taller people are at a higher risk of developing cancer. As per the report published by the Royal Society, showed that every 10cm of increased height in women there was a 13% higher risk of developing cancer. For men this number was 11%. BBC reported that 10cm increase in human height above 5.7ft for men and 5.3ft for women the risk of cancer increase. Further in this study 23 types of cancers were examined and it was observed that increased height was a risk factor in 18 of them.
On the other hand it was observed that cervical cancer did not show any risk associated with height. Whereas skin cancer showed the highest risk increase. This study compiled a large-scale data from 23 cancer types from various countries like UK, US, South Korea, Austria, Norway and Sweden. Source: The Economic Times
