A treatment error at a government medical college hospital in Murshidabad prompted a police complaint and an internal inquiry after traction was initially applied to the wrong limb of a 55-year-old woman admitted with a hip fracture. The patient was injured after falling from a terrace earlier in the day and was first taken to a private nursing home, where imaging reportedly showed a left-sided hip injury. She was advised a referral and admitted to Murshidabad Medical College Hospital at around 11 pm. According to her family, they were informed that the procedure would be performed the following evening, but the patient was taken to the operating theater close to 11 pm instead.
