A 21-year-old man died after receiving an injection for stomach pain from an unregistered doctor at one of the Medical Centres in Senjeri, Sulur taluk, Tamil Nadu. Later that day, he collapsed at home and was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Following a complaint from his mother, local police registered an unnatural death case under Section 194 of the BNSS Act and informed the joint director of health services, who conducted an inquiry into the medical center.
The investigation revealed that the doctor had completed his MBBS but had not passed the mandatory Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) required to practice in India.
