Synopsis Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease characterized by the destruction of melanocytes, resulting in the loss of skin pigmentation. Since vitiligo treatment requires regular hospital visits, many patients find it difficult to get themselves treated for vitiligo. The current clinical guidelines have recommended topical corticosteroids (TCSs), narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB), topical tacrolimus, and combination therapies for vitiligo treatment. However, very few clinical trials have assessed the effectiveness of NB-UVB in combination with TCS for treating vitiligo patients. Hence, a randomized controlled trial was conducted to investigate the efficacy of a topical corticosteroid and a handheld ultraviolet B device to treat active and limited vitiligo. Authors: K.S.
