Recently, the American Heart Association and American College Of Cardiology have re-defined high blood pressure as systolic BP ≥ 130 mmHg or diastolic BP ≥ 80 mmHg. The guideline further states that: High blood pressure should be treated earlier with lifestyle changes and in some patients with medications at 130/80mmHg rather than 140/90mmHg Proper technique should be used to measure blood pressure using validated devices. It should be based on an average of 2-3 readings at least on two different occasions.
