Case presentation A 52-year-old female presented with a history of occasional abdominal pain for the past three months. The pain was associated with decreased food intake as well as nausea. The physical examination of the abdomen was unremarkable. Medical history Hypertensive for past 15 years Diabetes mellitus of 12 years duration Hypothyroidism since the age of 35 years History of cholecystectomy at the age of 40 years Reported allergy to dipyrone Radiographic findings Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a solid tumor in the retroperitoneum.
An abdominal tomography with intravenous contrast revealed a tumor of the distal region of the pancreas that measured 8 cm (Cover image a). The tumor was in contact with splenic vessels (Cover image b) and the renal hilum (Cover image c).
