A 29-year old man is undergoing his general check up. He has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis four years ago. He responded to mesalamine treatment and remained in remission on this medication. His routine check up indicated that his serum alkaline phosphatase, alanine aminotransferase, and aspartate aminotransferase levels are normal. He also has a strong family history of colon cancer.
