An automotive technician, a 24-year-old female, presented with fever and pain in her left hand. The doctor noticed a deep wound on her left palm oozing with pus. Purplish red streaks ran up her left arm. Lymph nodes at the elbow and under her arm were enlarged. The skin was dry and warm. On discussing the history, the patient mentioned how a sharp metal from the undercarriage of “Real Cherry” 1977 Malibu had punctured her left palm a week earlier.
The wound bled for a few minutes. She had washed the wound nicely with soap and water and covered it with a band-aid. But after three days, she developed a fever followed by vomiting and diarrhea. ##Source## Mc Graw Hill Online Learning Centre ## ##Disclaimer## The content provided on Docplexus is intended for educational purposes only.
