Adrenaline is generally the first-line treatment option for the emergency management of anaphylaxis. Early administration in proper doses can reduce the risk of hospitalization and death in children at considerable risk of anaphylaxis. The current article describes the recommendations by the British society for allergy and clinical immunology, 2016 for prescribing an adrenaline auto-injector. The BSACI guidelines provide an insight upon the etiology, recurrence risk and management of anaphylaxis (after treatment of the acute episode).
It also includes guidance about the allergen avoidance and written treatment plans. The guidelines also include dose and absorption of adrenaline, and adrenaline auto-injectors, indications for their prescription, risk assessment for the number required and training in their use.
