The USFDA has approved a new therapy for myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). This advanced therapy can be taken at home without hospitalization and intravenous infusions. The therapy consists of a combination of decitabine and cedazuridine in a tablet form that needs to be taken once daily for five consecutive days in a 28-day cycle . The approval is based on a clinical trial that compared the efficacy and safety of this oral formulation of the combination drug with intravenous decitabine.
