Case presentation A 49-year-old lady presented to the podiatric surgery department with a mass in the plantar region of her left foot. The mass had gradually increased in size for the past two months. Her general practitioner (GP) had suggested an ultrasound scan to diagnose a plantar fibroma.

However, the result came negative, and the GP referred the patient to a podiatric surgeon.
