Tuberculosis remains a public health problem in developing country. Bone location of tuberculosis infection is increasing and is often misdiagnosed due to the weakness of clinical presentation in early stages. The current article gives a glimpse of this medical condition in a study. The rare medical entity, tuberculosis of sternoclavicular joint  accounts for 0.16%, 0.37%, or up to 2% of osteoarticular tuberculosis.

About 15% of TB patients have extrapulmonary lesions of which 1–3% are bone and joint lesions. Despite the availability of advanced diagnostic facilities, TB of the sternoclavicular joint often raises diagnostic problems that invariably lead to a delay in treatment. The diagnosis is often delayed or missed resulting in increased morbidity such as a disfiguring scar, instability of the sternoclavicular joint, ruptured abscess, and disseminated tuberculosis.
