Nearly 800,000 people in the USA are hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) alone and one-third of the cases are of people below 55 years of age. The prevalence of AMI in young adults has been steadily increasing over the past few years. There’s a pressing need for studies evaluating the association between risk factors and AMI. Here’s an infographic summarizing one such US-based study that assesses the association of gender-specific, sociodemographic, clinical, and psychosocial risk factors with the occurrence of the first AMI episode among adults below the age of 55.
