Amblyopia or lazy eye syndrome is one of the common ophthalmic conditions found in children. It develops during early childhood. Amblyopia is a functional reduction in visual acuity most commonly found ophthalmological problem in the children. The primary symptoms of amblyopia may depend on the structural or functional abnormalities, according to which the condition is also classified. The assessment of primary symptoms and initial diagnosis can be performed by pediatricians. But it is recommended that the differential diagnosis and management should only be carried out by an ophthalmologist qualified to treat pediatric patients.
