Case presentation A full-term male infant was born via vaginal delivery following an uncomplicated pregnancy and labor. During the examination, a midline dermal lesion (measuring 1.5 cm × 2 cm with a small 1-mm central dermal pit ) was observed at the L3-L4 spinal segment . The lesion was purple-red in hue , slightly raised , nontender, and did not blanch. Apart from the lesion, no abnormality was observed in the neurological, anal, and genitourinary findings.
The infant also exhibited good lower extremity tone with normal reflexes and sensations. Furthermore, the infant’s urine and stool output were normal during his nursery stay. He was shortly discharged from the nursery with instructions for a scheduled check-up.
