I was called on for anaesthetic assessment for a 50 kg 41 yr old lady for abdo. hysterectomy. Fibroid ut. She was a hard-working labourer. Haemogram, renal, biochemistry, Viral markers -with in normal limits. No ECG was taken and I did not ask for that. F/H past H-nil abnormal. No comorbidity . I assessed her for anaesthesia under- risk- 1. But the hospital doctor wanted to take ECG. He noted abnormal T wave in V3 and V4 (ECG attached). On the same basis, he ordered for some tests.
Results: Ca. 9.8 mg; Na. 126 mEq; K. 2.8. mEq; cl. 87 mEq.; MB CK. 20. No clinical correlation. Can I take up the case for anaesthesia? Are ECG, electrolytes and MB CK really warranted ?
