Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is difficult to treat, with limited treatment options achieving only up to a 12% five-year survival rate. Researchers have been exploring new strategies to improve outcomes in patients with TNBC. In such an effort, a study evaluated the effects of combining the antibody-drug conjugate sacituzumab govitecan with pembrolizumab in 443 patients with PD-L1–positive advanced or metastatic TNBC.
Following a median follow-up of 14 months, the study found that sacituzumab govitecan combined with pembrolizumab led to a longer median progression-free survival of 11.2 months, compared to 7.8 months with chemotherapy plus pembrolizumab.
