Case presentation A 24-year-old woman was immediately rushed to the trauma and emergency department following a severe car accident. She was driving at 100 km/h when she met with the accident. The patient had lost control of her car, and as the car got flipped onto the side, she was dragged about a distance of 20–30 meters with her arm outside the car. The paramedics rushed to the site of the accident and found the patient with her hand trapped between the car door and the asphalt.

Medical history  Upon initial investigation, the tetanus status of the patient could not be determined; however, she recalled taking a series of tetanus toxoids during her childhood. The patient reported no allergies, no history of renal dysfunction, and was not taking any medication.
