The 2025 theme, “Behind the Mask: Caring for Caregivers,” invites us to look beyond the white coat and mask to recognize the human struggles of doctors. This day commemorates Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a legendary physician, freedom fighter, and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, born and deceased on July 1 (1882–1962).
Dr. Roy’s contributions, including founding the Indian Medical Association and Medical Council of India, transformed healthcare in an era when rural India relied on traditional healers (IMA, 1991).
