Through National Health Policy 2017, Government has promised to increase healthcare expenditure to 2.5% of the GDP, giving priority to healthcare and making significant investments to improve the infrastructure and delivery mechanism, jointly with state governments. However, the government alone may not be able to meet the infrastructural, capacity building and delivery shortfalls in healthcare. A balanced participation from the private sector under PPP will be beneficial.
State governments are hesitant about the success of these partnerships, and they somehow seem reluctant to commit towards this area of development. What are our options as doctors, to contribute to this capacity building and infrastructure development of healthcare sector?
