Currently, the development of the sepsis is determined by monitoring the vitals and clinical signs. In a recent study, the researchers focused on the quick identification of the patients in the early phase of sepsis by measuring the biomarkers in the blood and used a new point of care device for measuring biomarkers in a single drop of blood. The researchers identified five key sepsis biomarkers and studied their predictive value over traditional methods.

Moreover, they found that combining biomarker data with electronic medical data yields the greatest predictive value and biomarkers alone carries more predictive power than the data from electronic medical records. In the light of above, will this method help in the accurate prediction of sepsis in the early phase and reduce disease progression and mortality?
