Coffee is a widely consumed beverage worldwide. Therefore, understanding its impact on human health is essential. A new study has investigated the association between coffee consumption and all-cause mortality and aging by reviewing over 50 studies conducted over the last 20 years involving nearly three million participants.

The study revealed that regular consumption of moderate doses of coffee reduced the major causes of mortality, including cardiovascular- and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, and respiratory diseases, as well as the major causes of functional deterioration in the elderly, such as memory loss, depression, and frailty, by 17%. Remarkably, coffee consumption was associated with an increase in healthy life span by 1.8 years.
