Cardiorenal Metabolic Syndrome (CRS) is a complex metabolic disease, affecting the heart and kidney simultaneously. CRS has an increased prevalence in parallel with obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia. The association between obesity, kidney disease and heart failure with preserved systolic function is an increasingly recognized epidemic in industrialized countries.

Such constellation of metabolic risk factors is referred as the Cardiorenal Metabolic Syndrome (CRS) which is an extension of the terminology used previously to refer coexistence of heart and kidney diseases.
