I am MD in Microbiology. It was never the subject of my choice. I selected it just because I did not want to loose one more year in career uncertainty. Throughout my MD tenure, I was confused whether I should continue with the subject or prepare again for a clinical PG. After passing MD exam I joined as the microbiologist in a corporate lab and learned other aspects of lab medicine like NABL, clinical pathology, hematology and biochemistry. If I could join an NABH hospital I could have exposure to Infection control too.
But still, with this much knowledge, I am working as a lab doctor with job satisfaction and further scope of learning. My point is that every subject has its own charm and dimensions. Pharma students can go for clinical research, community medicine guys have WHO jobs. So if you are in a nonclinical subject please do not waste it. If you can not tolerate a nonclinical…
