Synopsis Acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs) are skin manifestations categorized either as complicated or uncomplicated disease conditions. Patients with complicated ABSSSIs often require hospitalization and are usually associated with various underlying comorbidities which include diabetes mellitus, peripheral vascular disease, and obesity. A significant number of patients are affected by the most common etiological pathogens in ABSSSI, namely Staphylococcus aureus, methicillin-resistant S.

aureus (MRSA), and in some cases, it may be polymicrobial. Such a high incidence rate of ABSSSIs has led to increased hospital admissions and demands for effective treatment strategies, which have clinical significance against the common pathogens.
