This video presents the procedure of implantation of phakic lens to correct the high myopia in the right eye of a person. ‘Phakic’ in general means that the natural lens of the eye remains intact. The first step involves two small incisions at the base of cornea to position the lens. Then HPMC viscoelastic gel is placed inside the eye for protection during lens placement. The main incision for inserting the lens is done.
The phakic lens is then injected and gently unfolds in the eye. Once the lens gets completely unfolded, it is then tucked behind the iris. When the phakic lens is perfectly placed, the HPMC viscoelastic gel is removed that was introduced before the placement of the phakic lens. Post op vision of the patient was 6/6 (P) N6 unaided.
