A middle-aged man of Down syndrome complains of reduced tooth mobility. The patient has h/o recurrent pneumonia and chronic bronchitis since few years. He was accompanied by his mother, who explained his medical history. Immunological assessment of the patient revealed gamma-globulinemia and beta-cell deficiency and decreased CD45 RA + naïve CD4 + T-cells. The patient was diagnosed with gamma-globulinemia, for which he had never received treatment.
A radiographic examination of the oral cavity (cover image) revealed several decayed teeth and alveolar bone resorption in maxillary incisors. In addition, marginal gingivitis and dental plaque were observed on all surfaces of the patient’s teeth.
