Case presentation A 75-year-old male was presented to the hospital outpatient department with complaints of severe headache for six weeks. The pain was specific to the right hemicranial region, which was excruciating in intensity. He also reported a blurred vision in the right eye after two weeks of headache onset. Past medical history A history of any metabolic disease or trauma was absent. Other investigations An ophthalmological examination two weeks after headache onset revealed anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION).
Physical examination Jaw claudication was present along with severe allodynia over the head area. Constitutional symptoms were also present. Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and temporary artery tenderness were observed.
