A 17-year-old Iraqi boy presented to the ED with complaints of right iliac fossa pain and bloody diarrhea for two days. Treatment initiation Clinical diagnosis revealed appendicitis, and the boy was treated accordingly with IV antibiotics followed by appendicectomy. Clinical findings During the surgery, inflammation in the right colon was noticed and a CT scan was performed. It revealed the thickening of the ascending colon with submucosal edema in the cecum. Because the patient recovered, he was discharged after the surgery.
Post-surgery Complication Two-days post-surgery, the boy returned with bloody diarrhea upto 10 times a day, along with fever and tender abdomen. The patient was started with IV cefuroxime and metronidazole.
