I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal, which talks about the above concept, which is working in the USA, although it is not yet that popular or well known. The concept is called a Direct primary care doctor and has the following features: Monthly payment (or fees): The patient pays a monthly fee (range from US $65 to $100) which covers their primary healthcare needs through visits to the clinic, emails and text messages. It does NOT cover home visits. It also covers basic tests like blood sugar. Some doctors include vaccinations.

There are no limits to the number of visits the patients can make. Direct access to the doctor: Appointments must be set up directly with the doctor, no secretarial staff is employed. It is typically a single Doctor or two Doctors working in a partnership, so that one can go on leave while the other ones looks after the practice. 24/7…
