The recurrence of pectus excavatum (PE), after the completion of repair, poses a significant challenge in PE management. However, very little is known about the recurrence of PE. A recent study published in the Journal of Thoracic Disease reported that t he effect of the Nuss procedure (NP) can be different according to the patient age at the time of the procedure. Similarly, e arly correction of PE can provide better corrective results because of the existence of a more pliable chest wall, which can be easily and sufficiently elevated by the NP.

Moreover, the study suggests that sufficient elevation of the depressed chest wall should be ensured during the NP to prevent the recurrence of PE .
