A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Network Open revealed a correlation between the early diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using computed tomography (CT) and a reduction in the mortality rate. The mortality rate of lung cancer was found to be decreased between the years 2013 and 2017, despite it being one of the prominent causes of cancer-related death in the United States. Lung cancer-related mortality is often correlated with the advancement in targeted therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
A previous study suggests that the early approval of targeted therapy led to a decrease in mortality rate among NSCLC patients.
