The risk of Zika virus (ZIKV) infection during pregnancy depends on the prevalence of the disease, which is highly variable in the different regions (less than 1%-75%). In pregnant women with infections, the risk of any adverse fetal/neonatal outcome was reported at 5%-42%, including 1% -4% of fetal death and 4%-9% of presumed congenital Zika syndrome (CZS). Depending on the study, the approximate rate of maternal-fetal transmission varies between 7% and 26%.
