Sjogren syndrome (SS) is a heterogeneous, autoimmune disease, earlier known as dry-eyes or dry-mouth condition, in which the immune system attacks the glands that make tears and saliva. ‘Sjogren’ is a German word, pronounced as ‘show-grin'. Owing to a lack of complete kno wledge on the syndrome, doctors and rheumatologists frequently underestimate the risk of Sjogren. Epidemiology: The prevalence of SS in India is up to 5.5%, with the majority of the cases being under-diagnosed.
