Acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI) is characterized by organ dysfunction, reduced enteral nutrition, and an increased mortality rate. It is a common complication seen in critically ill patients in the first week of admission to the ICU and is mostly conservatively treated, with the effects being limited. Now, for the first time, an erector spinae plane (ESP) block was used to treat AGI. Ropivacaine is administered into the erector spinae muscle, bilaterally at the thoracic level in this method.
