Surgical craniectomy is performed to manage the increased intracranial pressure and to minimize the secondary complications in survival traumatic brain injury patients. However, a study has reported few unfavorable results in this treatment. Almost sixty percent patients die after traumatic brain injury or suffer from a severe disability. Increased intracranial pressure due to cerebral edema is a major cause in such cases which results in secondary complications.
