Hip pain has multiple origins. It could be intra-articular, juxta-articular or any other referred pain from spine or sacroiliac joints. The exact diagnosis of the cause of the pain in very important for the correct therapy. In such cases radio imaging findings play a most appropriate role in the diagnosis.
This article focuses on the X-rays, as the diagnostic tools for the intra-articular hip pain in pediatric and adults. Mostly the origin of hip pain is intra-articular, extra-articular, or referred pain from neighboring structures, such as sacroiliac joint, spine, symphysis pubis, or the inguinal canal.
