Meningiomas are the most commonly occurring primary tumors of the central nervous system (CNS), of which 15โ€“30 % includes grade II tumors. There is a lack of consensus on the management of grade II meningiomas. Researchers have recently identified Fibulin-2 as a non-invasive grade II tumor biomarker that can be detected using a simple blood test.

Meningiomas originate from the meningothelial (arachnoid cap) cells that line the arachnoid layer of the central nervous system (CNS). WHO classifies tumors of the CNS in three distinct grades - the benign grade I meningiomas (70โ€“85% of all meningiomas), the intermediate atypical grade II (15โ€“30% of all meningiomas), and the malignant grade III tumors (1โ€“2% of all meningiomas). Fibulin-2 (FBLN2) , a large calcium-binding extracellular matrix (ECM) glycoprotein , has been shown to act as a driver for malignant progression in lungโ€ฆ
