Synopsis Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of rheumatic diseases that share the immunogenic, clinical and radiological characteristics. It is further classified as axial (axSpA) or peripheral spondyloarthritis and the main disease within the SpA is “Ankylosing spondylitis (AS)”. Patients with SpA often have impaired quality of life and work disability despite treatment. Achieving and maintaining clinical remission or low disease activity (LDA) is the primary aim of SpA management.
Tumour necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) is considered to induce and sustain long-term clinical remission in patients that do not respond to standard non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) treatment. The present study compares the key differences between the dose reduction Vs standard dosing of TNF-inhibitors for maintaining low disease activity (LDA) in patients with axial spondyloarthritis.
