A government doctor from West Bengal recently got suspended after he posted a message on a social media website, stating how the government authorities are suppressing facts about the dengue outbreak. His suspension letter mentioned that this post amounts to "misinterpretation in the public and are derogatory to the hospital administration". The doctor wrote in his post that the hospital had admitted about 500 patients suspected of dengue in the month of October, which was much more than the capacity of the hospital. He described that he had to struggle to reach the patients as many were lying on the floor.
The state government, however, declared that there have been only 13 deaths due to dengue so far in government hospitals and 27 in private hospitals (which needed further verification). This is clearly an underestimate, the doctor said. Following this post, he received a suspension…
