Gujarat has reported 22 pediatric deaths linked to Chandipura virus (CHPV) during the ongoing monsoon season, according to the State Health Minister. The state has identified 35 laboratory-confirmed cases from 184 suspected infections, while results for 11 samples are still awaited. Seven children remain hospitalized and are receiving treatment at civil hospitals in Gandhinagar, Rajkot, and other districts. All confirmed and suspected patients reported so far are younger than 15 years.

Health authorities have directed both government and private pediatric hospitals to ensure the immediate admission of children presenting with suspected CHPV symptoms to intensive care units equipped with oxygen and ventilator support.
