The current article describes a clinical update in the field of anesthesiology which was recently published in a renowned journal “British Journal of Anesthesia’’. It describes a case of seizure-like activity at a steady state dose of sevoflurane in a healthy pregnant patient at 25-week gestation undergoing open fetal myelomeningocele repair. This article states the hypothesis that high dose sevoflurane (mean alveolar concentration-MAC 2.5) which is used for uterine relaxation during surgery, was responsible for the convulsive activity. Sevoflurane is an inhalational anesthetic agent for use in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia.
