Case presentation An 11-year-old boy presented to an outpatient department with a complaint of pain and swelling in the right knee. The swelling appeared six months before the presentation, and it gradually increased in size since then. Medical history No history of fever or trauma. Investigations Physical examination revealed swelling in the anteromedial aspect of the right knee in the suprapatellar region. The suprapatellar region and the patella moved as a unit and were firm on palpation.

Flexion in the affected knee was restricted by 30Β°. Radiographic evaluation and CT scan revealed a bony outgrowth associated with a mass originating from the superior pole of the patella which Contained focal areas of calcification.
