Publication Synopsis Thyroid cancer is the most prevalent endocrine malignancy. The radioactive iodine used in the treatment of thyroid cancer has found to be associated with the increased risk of second primary malignancy in the young survivals the disease. A study published in the Journal of National Cancer Institute has investigated the association of radioactive iodine and its dose with the subsequent malignancies in the thyroid cancer patients with a positive outcome.
