According to a study conducted at the Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Republic of Korea, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an independent risk factor for the development of diabetes in adults without obesity. Although it is well-established that NAFLD frequently occurs in the obese population, there is a rising concern with a substantial proportion of non-obese individuals developing NAFLD.
