Natural rubber latex (NRL) has found its place in many utility products ranging from balloons, adhesive tapes, tapes and bandages, catheters, rubber bands, tourniquets and hand gloves. However, allergy to certain latex proteins being a matter of occupational disease noticed since the 1980s and still continues to be an important occupational health problem throughout the world. This guideline and the review of research on latex allergy issued by Royal College Of Physicians will be useful for practicing physicians to address the problem of latex allergies, particularly due to gloves.
