Highlights The rise in the detection of peripheral non-small cell lung cancer has renewed interest in sublobar resection instead of lobectomy. Sublobar resection was found to be not inferior/comparable to lobectomy in terms of disease-free survival rate. The overall survival rate was found to be similar for the two procedures in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer. In patients with T1aN0 non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), lobectomy has been the standard treatment protocol for decades.
